iTDS, for Tongue Drive System

iTDS (Tongue Drive System), fromĀ Georgia Institute of Technology, brings a new way to interact with computers, using your tongue.

This system typically replaces a joystick to control a wheel chair, or even blowing air through a straw for quadriplegics. iTDS works with a bunch of electro magnetic sensors surrounding the mouth and a magnet stuck on the tongue, which position is identified and understood between 6 different actions.

iTDS may be used for simple wheel chair command, or mouse cursor & click replacement, so it’s a great solution for injured and paralyzed people, but it may not be a new interacting device for everyone.
